James Huon George (born March 11 1999) is rapidly establishing a reputation as one of South Australia’s most exceptional young pianists and collaborative artists. Born and raised in Adelaide, James completed his Master of Music (Performance) at the University of Adelaide's Elder Conservatorium of Music in 2025, studying under Lucinda Collins, Head of Piano. His foundational tertiary, and Honours training between 2017–2021, was guided by celebrated German pianist Stefan Ammer, and Russian virtuoso Konstantin Shamray (winner of the Sydney International Piano Competition). James’s musical journey began during his formative years at Prince Alfred College, where he studied under prominent local pedagogy.
Today, James is a prominent fixture in Adelaide’s cultural landscape. His performances are frequently broadcast on ABC Classic FM, Radio 5MBS, Radio Adelaide, and 5EBI. An active participant in high-level masterclasses, he has honed his craft with internationally renowned pianists including Emmanuel Despax, Roy Howat, and Anna Goldsworthy.
Highly sought after as a soloist and chamber musician, James performs regularly across Australia’s premier concert series and venues, including UKARIA, Tempo Rubato, Recitals Australia, Elder Hall, and the North Adelaide Baroque Hall. His performances routinely draw critical acclaim, receiving high praise from the Adelaide Critics Circle. As a passionate collaborator, he frequently shares the stage with fine Australian musicians, including Sophia Kirsanova, Cassandra Doyle, and David Moran.
James commands a vast, diverse repertoire stretching from the Baroque era to the 21st century. He is particularly dedicated to championing Australian art music, programming works by iconic composers such as Percy Grainger, Carl Vine, Nigel Westlake, and Miriam Hyde, alongside contemporary voices like Jakub Jankowski, and Connor Fogarty.
A recipient of multiple Elder Conservatorium scholarships, James is also an innovative concert curator, producing lecture-recitals, charitable galas, and independent ensemble showcases. His recent concerto highlights include Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 (2021) and Dohnányi’s Variations on a Nursery Rhyme (2025) with the Burnside Symphony Orchestra, as well as Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 (2023) at the Baroque Hall. Following highly successful, sold-out solo recital tours across metropolitan Adelaide in 2024 and 2025, James undertook an acclaimed 2026 artistic residency at the North Adelaide Baroque Hall, presenting a unique, unrepeated program each month.
Beyond the concert stage, James holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon-Do, training under National Tae Kwon-Do Australia. In late 2025, he joined the roster of RMT Management, expanding his creative pursuits into film under the dramatic guidance of Jamie Harding, which recently included an appearance in the ABC crime series Treasure & Dirt.
